Area reported "Full of Faith" Dear Friends of the Arch of Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and International Shrine of the Holy Innocents, Since we announced our great purpose last year, the question has been asked sometimes, why Buffalo NY should be the site of a great and globally important shrine to the Blessed Mother, and affirming the sanctity of unborn human life? The answer is certainly known best to God, but one part may well be found in an article in the Buffalo News on October 2, entitled "Full of Faith." A new survey by The Glenmary Research Council reports that a greater percentage of Buffalo-area residents identify themselves with a particular church, than anywhere else in the nation. Fully 71% here claim membership in a church, compared to only 50% average in the country. A total of 623,000 of the 1.1 million here claim the Church as their own, or close to 60% of the population. This may not be the whole answer to "Why Buffalo?" for our project, surely it is not, but it may be an important part of it.
